Does doing crunches help me lose the body fat there?

YES and NO! The common misconception of doing sit-ups to get rid of stubborn belly fat, or doing bicep curls to get rid of that loose skin that hangs under the arm are all WRONG! Now don't get me wrong, doing these things in correlation with proper diet and exercise will make changes in those areas. But if you think you can do sit-ups and go home and eat pizza and magically those belly rolls will disappear you are sadly mistaken!

Rest days for a healthy lifestyle

For some weight training is a lifestyle, lifting is a daily routine that is implemented in there life. This is a wonderful thing! BUT, don't over do it. Rest days are just as important as training days. Your muscles heal and grow when you are NOT working out, when you are lifting(strength training) that's when your muscles are being torn. During lifting your muscles literally tear, and when you rest they heal and GROW! So stick with it, the gym needs to be a lifestyle, but just like everything in life, in moderation, 3-5 times a week lifting is adequate enough, don't over do it. Trainer Tip of the Day

Trainer Tip of the Day:

Eat 5-6 "meals" a day. And by meals i don't mean you have to have pasta, vegetables and a chicken breast for every meal. An apple, a couple bananas, maybe a protein shake could be one of your "meals". Think of your metabolism(if you don't know what metabolism is and what it has to do with your body, check out bodybuilding.com) as a 500 degree fire in the fire place. If you put GOOD wood in the fire every so often the fire burns at its best potential. Though if you neglect the fire, dont put a log in it for hours on end, the fire will begin to die down and even go out. Your metabolism is the same way, keep feeding it every 2-3 hours with GOOD food and your metabolism will be firing at its best possible potential, neglect feeding or miss meals or do the 3 meals a day thing you have heard your whole life, your metabolism slows down which in turn your not burning calories, so even though it sounds counter productive to eat "more" you can see that it is actually better to keep the body fueled.

Hope this helps some of you out there, good luck, and feel free to ask any questions!

Healthy Carpet Cleaning for the Pro's

You've been pushing the wand for years now, your back aches a little more every day, your feet are in more pain than they were yesterday and you have put on a few pounds since last year. Where do you go from here? It’s never too late to transform your body and make fitness a part of your lifestyle. Introducing exercise and proper eating habits into your life is a step in the right direction, whether your 18 or 81 it will change who you are mentally and physically.
Let’s start with proper eating habits. Most cleaners hit the drive thru religiously, and this is a big no-no. Yes it’s fast and when you have 4 more jobs to go you might think it’s your only option. But hold it right there, make your lunch each morning like your mother used to for you back in grade school. Pack water not soda, and some healthy meals and bring it with you each day, no more stopping by micky d’s and grabbing a high fat content, outrageous amount of sodium(salt) and crazy amounts of sugar meal, and start packing your lunch with fruits, veggies, and healthy sandwiches. This will give you more energy throughout the day; you won’t feel as sluggish on job 3 with 2 more to go. Try eating every 2-3 hours for best energy output, without food, healthy food that is, your energy levels are reduced, in turn making your wand feel heavier and your feet drag a little more each job. The heavier of an individual you are, and I am referring to extra unnecessary weight here, the harder pulling hoses pushing the wand and climbing those two story homes is going to be. Eat healthy and reap the rewards each and every day!
Now that we have a good idea of what to put in our bodies, let’s discuss transforming that body into Arnold shape. Right now you’re telling yourself that I sweat all day every day, I clean 5 houses a day I don’t need no stinking exercise. WRONG! The body adapts to its surroundings, and the same goes for pushing the wand. Sure in the beginning your body is burning a ton of calories as you are cleaning Mrs. Jones home, but after a while the body adapts to this, plateau and muscle memory occur, which in turn the body adapts to the activities you are doing day in and day out, so say goodbye to the high calorie burn. With lack of exercise there are two common body types you will see in carpet cleaners. One being overweight and in most cases obese, and the other is extremely thin, no muscle tone and very weak. The overweight individuals have normal to slow metabolisms and with the lack of proper exercise and eating, in turn, make them this way. In the very skinny it’s usually do to extremely fast metabolisms, and the lack of eating throughout the day. In either case both bad outcomes.  Proper fitness addition to your lifestyle will help with both of these common scenarios. A good rule of thumb is 3-4 days a week in the gym lifting weights aka strength training. If you are on the overweight side, you should add cardio to your regimen each day you lift, as well as a total of 5 days a week. If you are on the boney side, you can leave the cardio out in the beginning until you get to a proper weight for your age and height.
Remember fitness is a lifestyle, in the beginning it will be difficult to implement it into your daily routine, but just like how you are persistent in making your business successful make your body successful too. Just as you have to eat each day to survive, you should also introduce fitness and healthy eating. DON’T use the excuse you don’t have time. It’s the oldest excuse in the book. Make time for yourself, make time for your health, your body will love you for it as well as your family too, as you will be around for a long time to come.

Good luck out there and don’t get discouraged, remember this is a lifestyle change not a one month fix. Stick with it, don’t step on the scale everyday and expect miracles, as a matter of fact just don’t step on the scale each day at all! It takes time, just like your cleaning business, it wasn’t successful overnight, persistence is the key.
