Proper vacuuming

Vacuuming is an extremely lacked essential in all homes with carpet. Vacuuming should be done at least 1-3 times a week. Yes I said a week, if you are not changing your vac bag at least once a month, or your bagless canister once a week then you are neglecting your carpets tremendously. Which in turn leads to damaged fibers, dark ugly looking "traffic lanes" and years off the age of the carpet. In addition if you have stairs in your home, these should be treated with extra attention. Using the carpet tools that are attached to the machine that you might think are just for looks come in handy for the stairs specifically. Use the edge tool to get the sides, and the brush to get the "bull nose" (which is the front rounded part of the stair), this area gets the brunt of the soil from the shoes which in turn makes these areas darker. Cleaning the bull nose and sides of the stairs every time you vac will keep these areas looking like new as with the rest of your areas of your home. Make sure to take out the edge tool and get the edges of the room at least once a month.
Moving furniture to clean underneath will help with noticeable traffic patterns in the carpets. Arranging  the furniture to new locations a few times a year will also help with the wear and tear on the areas which in turn will keep a fluent look to all areas of your carpet.
Getting your carpets cleaned every 6 months by a certified professional carpet cleaner will keep your carpets in like new shape. Choosing the right professional can get tricky, do your research on the company make sure your not walking into a bait n switch scam. There are plenty credible companies out there, don't be scared to ask questions.

cleaning up the industry

Carpet cleaners have a horrible reputation these days, especially in the Orlando carpet cleaning area. Whether you have been burnt buy the bait n switchers, or just an inexperienced large named company that have techs with no certifications and leave you wondering what could have been. $6.95 a room is a common scene these days, which means if you pay 6.95 per room you will get carpets that might be worse off then you started, they will charge you .25c a sqft for spots/stains and high traffic areas, which will turn almost any bill to the $200 dollar range. Be aware of your purchase, do your research on these company's and just because you think the big yellow van pulling up to your home means professionalism think again. There are plenty of good quality Orlando carpet cleaners out there, just make sure the one you are choosing is one.
